December Voodoo

We’ve just landed back in England after what can only be described as a terrifyingly brilliant tour of Ireland. Made a lot of ace new friends and sank a fair few pints of Guiness! The partying in that place is second to none and as a band we had some amazing musical experiences taking in everything from busking on the streets of Galway to playing The Button Factory – one of the biggest venues in Dublin! We’ll be back there in July next year and we can’t wait. There are far too many people to thank but special shout outs have to go to Neil & Christina from Jack Of Diamonds Productions, Allen Gosker and the boys from Mikey & The Scallywags and everyone at the Ringwood House. We love you all! Check the Facebook page for some videos and photos from the tour.

So, there is loads of stuff happening for us in December. The John Fairhurst Band never stops! So without further waffling, here is what we’ve got in store…

Voodoo Chile live at GreenMan Festival 2011

Very excited to unleash our first official band live video. This cheeky number was filmed at GreenMan Festival in Wales this year on the Chai Wallahs stage. We had a great time jamming the fuck out of this one, so we hope you enjoy it. Huge thanks to Dave Prosser at Parrafin City for putting this together for us. Also thanks to Bright Black Films and the Chai Wallah crew for making this happen. Post it out amongst your friends and help spread the word!

Hootenanny’s, Brixton & New Years Eve in London

OK, so we did say we didn’t have any more shows this year in London but we’ve had a couple of offers we just couldn’t refuse. 23rd Dec at one of London’s best venues The Hootenanny in Brixton and a New Year’s Eve show at The Finsbury with our good friends The Graveltones. Those guys know how to make seriously heavy noise. More details to come soon.

Last London gig, Bristol Halloween Party, Ireland Tour & Recording

Heya folks!
Hope you’ve been enjoying the crisp autumnal weather these last few days. Got a couple of great gigs coming up, really happy to be finally taking the band to Bristol. Also, as you may have seen on Facebook – we’ve turned our little squalor in Willesden into a state of the art recording studio. Well, maybe not that good, but using a few duvets, reems of gaffa tape and a lot of patience from our neighbours, we’ve come up with something pretty close…

John Fairhurst Band – Ireland Tour 2011!!!

YES! YES! YES! The time has come to take this show on the road. Armed with sleeping bags, rain coats, instruments and balls of steel, me and the lads will be jumping in the trusty Chuggernaut* and taking that ferry to the beautiful country of Ireland. Over 11 shows and 2 weeks we’ll be hitting up Dublin, Cork and Galway to rip out some new tunes and party til the small hours. Last time I went there on my own I had an absolute blast, so I’m massively excited about this one.

Please join the Facebook event and check the Tour page for more details on this tour. We hope to see you there!

* The Chuggernaut is the name we have given to the LDV van we’ll be using for the tour. It’s got a huge dent in the side and the steering is about as responsive as a dead pigeon, but y’know, it gets us there in the end. Let’s just hope it survives the whole 2 weeks!

RECORDING

As mentioned, we’ve been recording some brand new tracks in the house this weekend. It’s been emotional so far (as all good recording sessions should be) and has provided everything from hilarity (watching three grown men trying to clap in time together at 2am after consuming a heroic dose of cheap wine), frustration and even a confrontation with the neighbours which ended with me giving him a free copy of Joys Of Spring and him apologising(!?). However, it’s sounding pretty damn tasty and we can’t wait to let you lovely people listen. We got a nice range of stuff on there and, of course, this will be the first proper release featuring the talents of my new band, so it’s exciting times all round!

Head over to my Facebook page to check some pictures out and, if you haven’t done so already, can you PLEASE ‘like’ my actual Facebook music page: here. Cheers!
